Meet the people.
Michael Cumming - Originally from London, Michael is an engineer and sound designer based in Philadelphia. Before opening the doors to Treacle Mine Recording, he previously worked at various studios throughout London and was head engineer at Rittenhouse SoundWorks in Philadelphia. Michael also did the sound design, foley, and mix for "Besieged" the winner of the 2018 Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival Best Narrative Short Award. He has had the pleasure of working with artists such as The Sun Ra Arkestra, Odean Pope, Lotus, The Crossing Choir, Marcia Griffiths, Xantoné Blacq, Bomba Estereo, The Discovery Network, Sophie Coran, and many more.
Logan Roth - Although well-known as the keyboardist and other half of Trap Rabbit, Logan is a first call session player frequently working out of the Philadelphia’s top studios (Milkboy, Studio 4, Rittenhouse Soundworks, Retro City). Known for his expertise in arranging and composing, his work can be heard on performances and recordings from artists such as Chris Bullock (Snarky Puppy), Deadfellow, Taylor Kelly, and Sophie Coran. Logan graduated from Princeton University in 2015 with a degree in music composition.
Sophie Coran - Inspired by artists such as Amy Winehouse, Lana Del Rey, and Nick Hakim, Sophie Coran coined Noir & B, a blend of jazz, R&B, and Soul, with a sense of nostalgia, as a way to describe her comfort zone. She combines her intimate lyrics and soulful vocals with arrangements inspired by classic 20th century cinematic orchestration. In addition to making her own music, Sophie is an accomplished composer, arranger, and vocalist for many sessions in the Philadelphia area, and enjoys challenging herself by working in a wide variety of genres. Sophie graduated from Manhattan School of Music in 2012 with a degree in classical composition.
Arjun Dube - Known as the ferocious second half of the alt-jazz duo Trap Rabbit, Arjun is primarily recognized as a versatile drummer who can easily navigate between many genres. With nearly 20 years of playing experience, he spends much of his time as a session player and producer at many studios in the Philadelphia area. Arjun graduated from Princeton University in 2015 with a degree in history and jazz studies.
